"IN PASSING"

In Passing is a contemporary bridal collection inspired by my time in Florence, reflecting my personal experience of witnessing romance through the people I’ve encountered. It traces romance as it unfolds in the city, capturing the progression of love from impulse to intention. It reflects how love begins almost unconsciously, driven by attraction, before growing and settling into something deliberate and intentional. The collection is structured around three distinct stages of romance, each interpreted through a single garment.

The Coat

The first stage of romance, infatuation and initial chancings, is represented by the coat. This phase is defined by early stage-attraction, subtle romantic gestures, and the nervous anticipation that accompanies new romances. The silhouette, heavily inspired by Cecilie Bahnsen’s billowy, romantic forms, reflects the lightness and emotional vulnerability associated with falling in love. The sheerness of the organza highlights the delicacy and uncertainty inherent in early romance, while the hand-laid organza flowers reference the most timeless expression of romantic intent.

The Corset and Pant

The second stage of romance, represented by the pants and corset, is emotional connection. It captures the ease of vulnerability and openness that comes with emotional closeness, reflecting the comfort of growing closer to someone. The silhouette is inspired by love letters; the most intentional way to share one’s thoughts and feelings. The pleated pants allude to the folds of a hand-written card or letter, while the asymmetrical corset mimics the shape of a fountain pen.

The Crystal Shawl

The third and final stage of romance is defined by commitment and devotion. It is characterized by the conscious choice to give oneself fully to another. This stage is most universally symbolized by diamonds, which serve as markers of promise and permanence. The silhouette is anchored by a crystal shawl, crafted from old chandeliers, that cascades over the bust like falling diamonds. The garment reflects the generosity of a love that has matured, celebrating the act of intentional devotion and the commitment to love unconditionally.
